YAUI Hon Ming
Yau Hon Ming developed great interest in music since young when participating in the singing class at a training centre where he also learned to play folk guitar, despite experiencing poliomyelitis which leads to difficulties in walking. He also learned different musical instruments including saxophone, erhu, Chinese flute and harmonica. After his championship at “The 1st Hong Kong Abilympics” and representation of Hong Kong to participate in “The 1st International Abilympics” in Japan in 1981, Hon Ming has been even more devoted to society and living a positive life.
Hon Ming founded the band “Kinetic Band” in 1995 and became its vocalist, while he and the band frequently participated in public and group performances. He also composed a piece of flute music in 2007, achieving a breakthrough in his music creation, after which he has been active in promoting music through conducting flute classes in the church or in private.
Hon Ming is also active in other art forms such as handicraft and photography, where his talents are recognized by being awarded the 1st runner-up at embroidery competition of “The 8th Hong Kong Abilympics” in 2011. His work was also shortlisted in various photography contests including “Rollei – Snapshots of Spring Photography Competition” and “Treescape Photography Competition”.
