The Danny Awards is our global award show that recognizes the musical talents of individuals with disabilities and celebrates differences. This event is the culmination of the hard work and perseverance of talented musicians who have submitted performance videos for consideration from around the globe. The 2025 Danny Awards includes performances by the top ten Award Recipients as selected by our judges, as well as Just Call Me By My Name artists Barabás Lőrinc, and Daniel Trush & Gerry Powers. We hope you enjoy it!
About The Danny Awards: In 2006, Daniel’s Music Foundation was founded by the Trush family to empower individuals with disabilities through music. One keyboard class with five members has evolved into serving thousands of individuals - both locally in NYC at their 8,700 square-foot music center, as well as nationally through our Virtual Community.
Since inception, we have witnessed the wonderful talents of musicians and have provided them with performance opportunities to share their gifts with others. But we wanted to do more - something that would have an impact globally. In 2020, we created an award show that recognizes and showcases the musical talents of individuals with disabilities of all ages - The Danny Awards. This event has grown every year, and the talent is extraordinary.

Our mission is to provide a comfortable, educational, and social environment in which individuals of all abilities can enjoy, learn, and practice the joy of music together. Today, DMF is continuing to promote joy, learning, self-expression and community with free in-person and online music programs nationally. Our methodology —Teaching from the heART— enables people with disabilities to make music through movement, storytelling, and the arts, in an environment where each person is valued and encouraged to express themselves authentically. Through engaging, multi-sensory techniques, we meet our members where they are most comfortable — in person, real-time online, or on-demand. As an organization, we are passionately committed to empowerment, changing perception and diminishing isolation for people with disabilities through music.
