Continuing the initial collaborative performance at the Fundraising Gala of Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong in 2023, choreographer Karen Chan once again leads four artists with disabilities to create a new inclusive dance piece. They will share stories and feelings from the rehearsal and creative process, showcasing the unique charm of inclusive dance and allowing the audience to experience the infinite possibilities of art.

Karen Chan, Choreographer

Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Musical Theatre Dance, Miss Chan also holds the Advanced II Tap (Honours) Certificate from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.) as well as the Advanced Bronze and Silver Tap Certificate (Honours) from the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (C.S.T.D., Australia).

 

She has participated in various large and small productions within the tap dance group R&T (Rhythm & Tempo), including performances at the Hong Kong Tap Festival and Taipei Tap Festival, and is now actively establishing tap dance for the elderly.She has performed in many musicals and choreographed for various stage productions including pop concert, she has just participated in the associated choreography of "The Next 20 Hins Live in Hong Kong Hins Cheung Concert".

 

She started learning sign language about nine years ago and has been involved in sign language interpretation in recent years. Recently, she started to participate in the theatre interpretation for “Mickey and the Wondrous Book” in Disney. In recent years, she has participated in the Jockey Club's "Dance Well” project. A creative dance team for patients with Parkinson's disease . She has also begun to create dances and exchanges for artists with disabilities, including people in wheelchairs, visually impaired and deaf.

 

Currently working as a choreographer, tap dancer, musical theater performer, sign language interpreter and audio description.
